The MIT Lab has launched a new research initiative to develop a $100 laptop. This technology security, passports, driver’s licenses, libraries ,super markets, similar to bar codes-for special purposes, and so on. An REFID system consists of a tag antenna and out electromagnetic waves. The tag antenna is tuned to receive these waves. There are two types of tags: active and passive. Active tags require a power source whereas a passive tag draws power from the field created by the reader and uses it to power the microchip’s circuit. The child then processes the signal into digital data.
RFID SYSTEM uses different frequencies, but generally the most common are low and high, and ultra high frequencies or UHF . Microwave is also used in some applications. Because radio waves behave differently at different frequency, one has to pick the right frequency for t he right application. Besides most countries has assigned the 125khz or 134 MHz area of the radio spectrum for low frequency system and 13.56MHz is used around the world for high frequency systems. Europe uses 868 MHz for UHF and USA uses 915MHz. Japan is trying to open 960MHz RFID area.
