WHAT IS THE VISION 2030 FOR SIKKIM?

Sikkim is just about a 40 year old state in the over 70 year old Republic of India. So, the state 30 years younger. However, today Sikkim is in the forefront in many areas. Sikkim has now become India’s Greenest State, 1st Organic State, 1st Nirmal Rajya, 1st State. And it has initiated livelihood measures, Cleanest State, 1st State in Land Use and Conservation. So, Sikkim is the 1st State in Green Protection Index, 1st Environment-friendly State, Safest State. Sikkim is the 1st State to provide free education up till the college level, State with the Lowest BPL population. It is also 1st State to ban grazing, the use of plastic and Styrofoam products, the bursting of crackers and wildlife killing, 1st state to achieve the highest density of roads, 1st state to constitute a Youth Commission, 1st State to be selected by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 places to be visited in 2014. Now Sikkim’s goal is to become India’s 1st Kutcha House free state, 1st Poverty free state, 1st Smart State, 1st Carbon Neutral State.

Sikkim will also be a national and global model of excellence. Other states and countries will look up to Sikkim and try to emulate the success she has achieved. Sikkim will be the:

Number one Education Hub in the country with the highest percentage of graduates in the state and Sikkim graduates will, therefore, be highly sought after in every sphere of employment.

Most thriving economy and fully self reliant state with zero poverty.

Moreover, Sikkim will be in the position of aiding other states as opposed to receiving aid.

Sikkim is model State in health and general well being with best key health indicators of life expectancy, infant mortality and birth and death rates.

  • Model state in clean energy with the cleanest industries resulting in clean air, clean rivers and clean land.

  • Model state in digitalization with respect to banking, education and administration. The paper system will be left behind. And the Sikkim work force will be highly skilled in the area of technology.

  • Sikkim is now the Model state with the best network of high quality roads. It results in smoother delivery of service, better provision of goods and greater inter-state interaction.

  • Model state of ecotourism with the best quality hospitality system making Sikkim one of the tourist hot spots in the world.

  • It is also Model state in capacity building.

  • Model state in fulfilling all the relevant Sustainable Development Goals. Sikkim’s commitment is not limiting Sikkim-centric prosperity but it is for the ultimate conservation of planet earth.
