STUDYING ENGINEERING IN WEST BENGAL
Some of the best engineers in the country have pursued their education in West Bengal. Today, it is no longer a trend that engineering toppers in West Bengal are moving out of the State.
The State has produced many stellar engineering colleges over the years, among which some are Government-run institutions. But a majority of them are self-financed establishments.
Also the country progresses in its technological and economic prowess. There has been also a spurt in research in specialized fields of engineering. So, it promotes new ideas and improved technology and products on offer in markets, giving a boost towards pursuing the field in depth. In as much, engineering fields like Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Web Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering, among other specialist fields, are increasingly gaining prominence. These fields are over and above the IT boom which the country has been witness to in recent years.
These provide students a host of research opportunities and build a career out of alternative fields of engineering. No longer does the subjects entail plain Civil, Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering. Moreover, with the spread of study of engineering fields, many courses like Marine Engineering, which were the mainstay of Government institutions, are today provided by many other engineering colleges as well. This has also allowed the growth of similar fields in terms of the curriculum on offer. And therefore the provision of cutting edge and competitive education, even in terms of the facilities on offer.
Moving on, campus placements in institutions in Bengal have also seen a rise in the recent years. More and more companies have shown interest and visit colleges for recruiting and taking under their fold engineering graduates, seeing this trend, even colleges have set up holistic placement cells which guide engineering students in their pursuits and provide them with the latest information and innovative tools to find the right jobs in accordance to their interests and choice. This has led to an increase in placement percentage in the State. Moreover, companies have also been liberal with their purse strings to provide well paying jobs to candidates, with good scope for subsequent increments for technical graduates.
